Flight in Numbers

Sachuest Wildlife refuge located in Middletown, Ri is home for many birds. This winter there was a rare visit from an Arctic owl. I did have a great opportunity to see the owl as it kept distant and camouflaged will with the grayish white rocks. Instead I focused on other birds such as the Eiders and Mergansers. Upon arriving there was a large flock of European Starlings sitting on roof tops and power lines. Occasionally something starling would come by causing them to fly about across empty sky.
