Parachuting to New LandsPosted by CMLDigitalDetails (NA, United States) on 12 May 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. Dandelions, the wild flower I believe that most people are familar with. Native to Europe, North America, and Asia are normally found invading lawns, roadsides, fields, and even growing from inside stone wall cracks. The flower head is actually a composite of many tiny flowers. After the flowering is finished, it dries out and seed-bearing parachutes emerge from the dried head forming a parachute sphere. Wind can help disperse the seeds elsewhere where the seed can develop into another flowering dandelion. In the picture, a wind current has detached a few seedlings from the parachute sphere, where the seeds will continue the life cycle of the Dandelion. Thank you for visiting my Aminus3 photoBlog. I appreciate those for taking the time to view my images and for those that provide feedback.
